ABOUT STEPHANIE
I’m an interdisciplinary artist who writes children’s books and draws pictures. I also collage, do theater improv, dance, and knit. Ever since I was little, my favorite kind of play was to create things with my imagination and my hands. When I’m happy, I make things. When I’m stressed or sad, I make things. For me, creative play is always the way forward.
My published books include:
Behold! A Baby
Elvis & Olive
I've been a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award, and recently, Pencilvania was named a Best Book of 2021 by the New York Public Library. Through my books, I've been teaching writing and drawing workshops to grades K - 8 for past 15 years. You can learn more about my books and presentations for kids on my fiction website.
Since 2002, I’ve also worked as a freelance copywriter and content strategist, writing for Target, 3M, Ecolab, Best Buy, Boston Scientific, Microsoft, Medica, Ameriprise Financial, and many more. The work I’ve done with Plumlines, my content firm, is very different from the fiction-writing and drawing I do. But this experience serves me well when I lead creativity workshops for corporate clients. I’ve had a foot in both worlds for a long time, and I understand how to incorporate creative play into a professional setting.
